Hey, I saw your submission to artists-confessions, and I wanted to say that one of the main issues with deviantART is that it takes them forever to remove anything that is reported. deviantART is a good art site but when it comes to reporting people for stolen work or harassment, the take way to long to do anything about it. Hm? Oh, that posted? That was from back in January, I almost forgot about it.

Love-the-nekos contacted someone from DA in an email and her and her mules were all suspended. All of the “update” on the issue was posted in this journal. As you can imagine, having her account deleted pissed her off more and she threatened me and was stupid enough to ask where I live so she can send her oh so scary gang after me. I cut that short by blocking her from my main Facebook so she couldn’t find any info about me and I reported her again.

She did return as Data-Creator though and has a stolen piece in her gallery but she’s been laying low. She was harassing Nekos and kissing our asses for a while until I pointed out that I had found out the account was hers.

In one of my first art classes back during my time at DigiPen, one of the required books we had to read through had this certain painting. Now, it was nothing special, it was just some boats on water. Rather rough. Turns out, it was created by a man named Alfred Wallis. Wallis was a retired fisherman who took up painting at the age of 70 “for company” after his wife died. He used leftover ship paint with crayons on pieces of cardboard boxes for his work.

This man died in 1942, across the ocean from me. Out of some quirk, I see a piece of his in a book, making enough of an impression on me to look up more about him. From what I can read of Wallis, he started creating art to fill a hole, something just for him. There wasn’t too much care in being right or wrong in what he did, just that he DID.

How do we lose that? If you ask a child if they like to draw, they’ll invariably say “yes.” If you ask in adult if they like to draw, how FEW of them will say “yes?” And I can just guess that the reason is because they think they CAN’T or that it’s just not worthwhile.

I think… I think we have to stop losing the feeling that we can create art. Stop letting the pressure and the critique and the attention and the comparisons get to us. Let’s just make things, make them as best we can, and improve ourselves in whatever way we wish to. You have NO IDEA who you are impacting with what you create, don’t lessen that impact by diminishing yourself.

And that’s the hardest thing to do. But whenever I start in on that downward spiral, I try to think of Alfred Wallis again.

And so here I go again dealing with art theft, it’s getting annoying, I know.

So this time my chibi’s been either completely stolen or traced and created into a game. The game marker goes by Cartoon Doll Emporium.

Since this is outside of Tumblr, DeviantArt, and Blogger I’m really not sure how to deal with it. I’m more bothered by the fact that they’re probably making money off of this and I’m at the shitty end of the deal - no permission asked and no credit given. I did find their Facebook page and a post showing off a screenshot and link to this game and left a comment there but I dunno how much that will do.

According to her Dragoart profile she’s 13 but that could be a lie since she claims her name is Mimi on there and that she lives in Florida (her DA profile says she’s from some islands).

And yeah, I know exactly what you mean. I’ve been pretty lenient on this issue and waiting for her to grow up or for DA to deal with it but this has gone for too long.

Geez, thats crazy!!! :C I feel so bad for you! is there any way to report her? Or any way I can help?

I’ve reported a lot of the entries already, at least on the main account, I did that days ago though and they’re still not gone. Moorina also reported the entry that is hers and it’s still not gone.

I know that Love-the-nekos and her followers have commented on the mule’s profile and reported the entries that were stolen from her. I also reported the one that’s mine.

So for DA I guess it’s just a waiting game. As for the harassment, I could block her known accounts but that won’t stop her from making more. I don’t know what to do about the journal though, I don’t see a report button on journal entries.

And as for Facebook, I’m kind of stumped on that one… My friend says I can report the picture for harassment so I’m going to try that and see if that helps.

I’m dealing with an art thief on DA that’s doing far more than just stealing art. I previously had problems with her on Dragoart over the summer; she got mad that I reported her submissions for art theft and when they were deleted she raged at me (and even accused me of hacking her).

She goes by ipod123410, at least that’s her main account. She has mules though, she created them to back herself up on harassing me, which you’ll see below. Her mules include nuknuklove123, cutiegirl123410 , and gayness-above.

All accounts except for Nuknuk have stolen art on there.

I checked her facebook (she had added my Touhou RP and game account over the summer; even if she hadn’t added me her facebook account can be easily found since her email is posted on Dragoart) after she sent me a message.
