I’m on my itouch so I can’t provide pictures to back me up at the moment, bear with me and let google be your friend.
First off, the concept of Dragoart is great. A tutorial site and beginning artist community. The problem is is how flawed it is.
1. There’s an approval process but why when anything gets through? What point is there then? If you’re going to have an approval process then make it worth it and check what’s uploaded. A quick tineye search or google image search of suspected stolen or traced isn’t that hard. It would reduce the amount of art theft in terms of truly taking and tracing.
2. Back in December there was something posted on Devianart pointing out about the site owner, Dawn, traces in tutorials and was essentially making money off of all this. There’s more to it, if you’re interested, Google it or search the Dragoart tag on Tumblr.
3. The majority of uploaders on there are bratty kids under 14 who snap at you when you try to tell then tracing isn’t okay, etc. They think tracing and copying forever is okay. There was one girl I came across a few days ago who was obviously stealing and I posted all the links to the several deviantarts she stole from yet she still insisted she drew them, threw a temper tantrum at me, then came to my page leaving that there as well as leaving comments on my uploads saying I stole them. Of course she blocked me so I couldn’t reply to any of her shit. She also had a friend mindlessly sticking up her. In the end her art was removed and I was accused by her of hacking her account and deleting the uploads.
4. There isn’t a report button, as far as I know, on any of the submissions to report if they’re stolen.
